There is no biological reaction that have been related to the beryllium contained in the alloy. Thus, this is widely used in the USA. However, health hazard is posed to the dental technicians doing the actual melting and finishing of the alloy than the individuals having the prosthesis made from beryllium-containing-alloy. In our laboratory precautionary measures are implemented like proper ventilation and use of high powered vacuum aside from the wearing of face mask. Another alternative prosthesis we are offering is all-porcelain which is metal free and costs AuD 400 as compared with the porcelain fused to metal at AuD 200. Dentists can also use beryllium free alloy and it costs AuD 350.
